Malwa Utsav

The Malwa utsav is one of the biggest fairs celebrated in Madhya Pradesh. The fair is put up in the month of May. For two days the celebrations take place in Ujjain and then for five days in Indore. The festival is said to celebrate the spirit of dance of the country. A lot of performances of dance, music, drama and literature take place during this festival. Well known performers from different parts of the country also come to take part in the festival. Also exhibitions depicting the handicraft and culture of the state is put up. It is a gala time in the state during the celebration of the festival.

The great cultural programme of Madhya Pradesh, held in Indore, with great deal of enthusiasm, is one of the most vibrant festival that glitters with the brilliance of classical dancers, musicians, singers, and other folk artists !! The performers for this extravaganza are selected from various parts of the country and it is not only a display of their talents but also a stage where they find exposure to public and are greeted with warmth and respect from the audience !!

Besides being a fabulous stage for rocking artists in various cultural arts, the Malwa Utsav also brings the craftsmanship of various highly-skilled artisans from across the country in the stalls selling handicraft items & traditional clothing !! Lastly, this festival is also a place where you find a huge assortment of delicacies not only from Malwa, but also from other regions in India !!

Madhya Pradesh Festival emulates the festive fervour that runs through the veins of India. Bounded by five different states, this land of contrasts has absorbed a little culture and tradition from each, and yet has an identity wholly its own. This aspect is most evident in its festivals.
