January is a month named after Janus, the Roman god of beginnings and transitions; rightly so, because the month straddles the end of one year and beginning of another. In India, January is usually the peak of winter and depending on which part of the country you are in, it bears its icy claws and their relative intensity. While the upper reaches of Himalayas are beyond freezing, North Indian destinations like Rajasthan are pleasantly cold. Coming down south, it becomes warmer and pleasanter.
