Gorakhpur Tourism

Gorakhpur is a city located along the banks of Rapti river in the north-eastern part of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is located near the Nepal border, 273 kilometres east of the state capital Lucknow. It is the administrative headquarters of Gorakhpur district and Gorakhpur division. The city is home to the Gorakhnath Math, a Gorakshanath temple.
Perhaps Gorakhpur’s main claim to fame is the Gorakhpur Press that publishes the sacred Bhagvad Geeta. The city, like other cities and towns in India, has its share of temples including the Arogya Mandir, which offers a range of nature-based therapies for a healthy life. The Gorakhpur Temple is one of the most prominent and magnificent temples of this area. In terms of natural attractions, Gorakhpur boasts of the Ramgarh Tal, or lake spread over 700 hectares, and the Kushmi Forest, primarily of sal and sequoia trees. Gorakhpur is also home to the Veer Bahadur Singh Planetarium and the Imambara, a Dargah belonging to a 17th century Sufi saint.
