Jama Mosque, Ahmedabad

Jama Masjid, also known as Jami or Jumma Mosque, is a mosque in Ahmedabad, built in 1424 during the reign of Ahmed Shah I. Lying in the old walled city, the mosque is situated outside Bhadra Fort area, along the south side of the road extending from Teen Darwaza to Manek Chowk.
The Jama Masjid which is situated at Ahmedabad is regarded as one of the largest mosques in India. The mosque which is strategically located towards the south end comprises of Maydan-I-Shah containing three major arches known by the name ‘Teen Darwaza’.
Jama Masjid is the Islamic place for worship and it is located in Ahmedabad city of Gujarat state. It is also famous as Jami mosque and Jumma masjid or mosque. It is located in the old Ahmedabad city outside the Bhadra Fort between Teen Darwaza to Manek Chowk area in Ahmedabad. The Jama mosque is built during the domination of the Sultan Ahmed Shah. The mosque built-in Indo Islamic style and having very attractive carving on walls and domes. Jama Masjid is the most magnificent mosques in the history of India and initiated by the Sultan Ahmed Shah in the year 1423 A.D. coming up to the architecture. It has the blend of Hindu and Islamic style structure which looks amazingly stunning. The prayer hall is covered by domes and carved flower designed pillars. Same as all religious places, in this place devotee should remove their shoes outside and during prayer everybody should keep their head covered with cloth and women are not allowed to enter the main prayer hall. Before this jama mosque was only for royals but later opened for the general public.
