Murshidabad Tourism

Murshidabad is a town in Murshidabad district of West Bengal state in India. The city of Murshidabad is located on the eastern bank of the Bhagirathi, a distributary of the Ganges River.
Murshidabad is the 7th largest city in the state of West Bengal. Situated on the banks of River Ganges, the city is agriculturally rich and a hub for handicrafts and sericulture. With a rich history to boast of, it is no surprise that tourists flock to this city to visit the many places of historical interest that exist here. Undoubtedly, one of the most famous of these is the Hazarduari Palace, which has 1000 doors, some of which are real while some are fake. Bara Imambara is a congregation hall for Shia commemoration ceremonies that was built in 1847 and is an important tourist attraction in Murshidabad.

The Jafarganj Cemetery has tombs of several Nawabs that once ruled Murshidabad. Mir Jafar constructed the cemetery and his remains, as well as those belonging to many of his family members, are buried here. The Katra Masjid, constructed by Nawab Murshid Quli Khan in 1723 AD, was damaged in the earthquake of 1897 but still draws many tourists eager to offer prayers. Another popular destination for tourists to visit is the Moti Jheel, a beautiful horseshoe-shaped lake that was once home to Warren Hastings during his tenure as the political president. The Nasipur Palace, which was built by King Kirtichand Bahadur in the late 19th century, is another place that is worth visiting. Kathgola, with its lovely palace garden and beautiful temple, is quite a tourist hotspot.
