Deoghar Tourism

Deoghar is a holy city beside the Mayurakshi River, in the east Indian state of Jharkhand. The ancient Baba Baidyanath Temple complex is a significant Hindu pilgrimage site. Nearby, Shiv Ganga is a sacred pool where devotees of Shiva bathe. There is a shrine to Krishna in the ornate, stone-carved Naulakha Mandir temple. Northeast of town, Harila Jori is the site of a whitewashed Shiva temple and a sacred water tank.
Deoghar,the famous Hindu pilgrimage is also popularly known as Baidyanath Dham. It is also a famous health resort. Deoghar is located on an undulated landscape and has small hillocks surrounded with jungles. The main temple complex at Deoghar comprises of 22 temples and is among the most important twelve jyotirlingams in India.
Thousands of devotees visit this ancient temple of Baba Baidyanath to worship Lord Shiva in the month of Shravan. Many devotees walk down 100 km from Sultanganj to the temple and visiting Basukhinath completes their pilgrimage. A jyotirlingam holds a great importance to Hindu devotees, and Deoghar is considered as the home of Gods. Yamunajor and Dharua are two rivers which flow near Deoghar. Deoghar, the city of temples is a popular holiday destination. The scenic beauty of the place and good weather makes it a popular destination from the point of view of health tourism.
