Purani Haveli

Purani Haveli is a palace located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It was the official residence of the Nizam. It was also known as Haveli Khadeem, which means old mansion, was constructed for Sikander Jah, Asaf Jah III (1803–1829) by his father Ali Khan Bahadur, Asaf Jah II. The 2nd Nizam Mir Nizam Ali Khan had taken over this from Rukunudhaulah of the Momin dynasty, in 1717. The main building is a symbol of 18th century European architecture. Sikander Jha lived here for some time and later shifted to Khilwat Mahal. Due to this, these buildings are called Purani Haveli. In this building complex, Ayina Khaana (Mirror House) and Chini Khaana (ChineseGlass House) were constructed.

This Haveli as self explanatory by its name is the Old Residence of Nizam Hyderabad. This palace was built to gift Sikandar Jah, 3rd Asaf Jah. Father of Sikandar Jah, Ali Khan Bahadur , the Asif Jah 2nd gifted this Haveli to his son. Geographical coordinates of this Haveli are17°21'55.83"N, 17°21'055.8"N. This Haveli was constructed in European style of architecture. Though all the creations in Asaf Jahi have the signature style of Islamic architecture but this is a special building which was built by another style of architecture. Entire building was constructed in ‘U’ Shape. In the middle of the building, the residential palace has been built. One of the specialty of this palace is that world’s longest wardrobe is constructed here. It is said that at the time of Nizam, there were arrangements of hanging 730 pairs of Royal uniforms in this wardrobe @ two uniforms per day. A lift made of wood was also constructed to lift the drawer of this wardrobe but not in functional status today. This wardrobe is spread in entire length of the wing of this palace. This palace has also a museum which was constructed to honor the loveliest things of Nizam. But presently this museum is being utilized for a school and also for an Industrial Training Institute.
