Thenzawl is a census town in Serchhip district in the Indian state of Mizoram. It is one of the most beautiful town in Mizoram. It is an important center for the traditional Mizo handloom industry. Thenzawl is located at 90 km(56 miles) away from Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram.And also thenzawl toun is also called Naples of the East.
Thenzawl was once covered with thick vegetation and wildlife was in abundance. It was only in 1963 that a village was established by a Benghuaia Sailo. It became much bigger as villages came together at Thenzawl during the 1966 Mizo National Front Uprising. According to the 2001 census, Thenzawl had a population of 5,519.
I couldn't understand all the raves about Thenzawl. Some people I met in Aizawl talked about Thenzawl as if it was the most beautiful place in Mizoram. But after being in the steep hills of Mizoram for about a week, I realized Thenzawl was the only place nearby, with meadows and valleys.
