Government Museum Jhalawar

The Government Museum Jhalawar, established in the year 1915 is ranked as as one of the oldest museums of Rajasthan. The museum is situated outside the fort palace and has paintings, rare manuscripts, sculptures and inscriptions belonging to the 5th and 7th centuries. It is located in the heart of the Jhalawar city and is situated outside the fort palace.

The houses rare manuscripts, paintings, coins, sculptures and statues of various gods and goddesses are specially noteworthy. 5th and 7th century old inscription may also be seen here. The sculptures and architectural fragments of the 8th century city of Chandravati and statues and epigraphs from Jhalrapatan region fill its galleries.

Most of the idols recovered form various ruins have been added to this collection. The Ardhnarishvara, Natraj, from this museum, was displayed in Moscow, during the Festival of India celebrations. There are many murals and manuscripts and a variety of other artifacts from the region.
